Meeting Minutes, May 7, 2002

The CLCC meeting came to order Tuesday evening, May 7, 2002, at 6:30 p.m. Thanks to the Coloma Country Inn for hosting the meeting. In attendance were Dee Allen, Frank Bechtel, Candie Bliss, Beverly Jeican, and Donna McMaster.

Clunes: Frank reported that his friend Steve recently visited our sister city, Clunes, Victoria, Australia, where they rolled out the red carpet for him. Frank will try to get some photos for the web site.

Announcements: It was noted that both Bekeart's Gun Shop and the Coloma Country Inn are celebrating their 150th anniversaries this year.

ColomaFest: This year the El Dorado County Chamber is managing the event, scheduled for Saturday, July 13. All events will take place at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. The Wagon Train will set up nearby and roll into the park early in the day, and mountain men are invited to participate in addition to the Park's docents and volunteers. There will be an art show, classic cars, food vendors, and the usual Street Dance and BBQ. Backstreet Boulevard will play again this year. The County Chamber has gotten good support from sponsors, including Raley's, the largest contributor ($1500 in-kind).

Our Chamber will be responsible for one of the two beer wagons, and will split the beverage proceeds with the County Chamber, which will be running the other wagon. Frank will manage the beer wagon, and will ask Jan and Ron Murphy if the American Heritage office is willing to help serve as they have done in the past.

Treasurer's Report: Our bank balance is $4280. There are still membership checks coming in, and the printer has yet to be paid. Candie Bliss is still owed money for the Easter Egg Hunt.

Coloma-Lotus Community Action Plan (CAP): Candie reported that the CAP group is looking into several projects, including acquisition of open space, more community events, trails, and high-speed Internet access. Their next meeting is Tuesday, June 4, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Marshall Park museum.

Election of Officers: Candie Bliss was elected President, and Donna McMaster was elected Secretary-Treasurer. In appreciation of his two years service as President, and the good will he has spread for the community and the Chamber, Frank Bechtel was appointed Ambassador. Dee prefers not to be an officer but expressed continuing willingness to help out with mailings and other jobs.

Next Meeting: Because of the CAP meeting June 4, our next meeting will be the 2nd Tuesday of June, the 11th. In July we will return to the 1st Tuesday timeslot. All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m., and will be held at the Coloma Country Inn until further notice.

Respectfully submitted,
Donna McMaster
